This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was happy to see my aunt last weekend and to find out that her son (who had a disabling sports-related freak accident about 5 years ago) is driving again. While I want to give credit to the numerous occupational and physical rehab therapies that he's had, I know that for the most part, the ability to drive again, or even walk again despite bad medical prognosis is made possible because of his own optimism and will power.

I really admire these people who are able to literally rise after a fall. I see a lot of handicapped people who try hard not to be a burden to their caregivers or families...and most especially to their own spirit. They simply refuse to be imprisoned by their disability.

So it is also good to know that they get the support they need such as handicapped walkways and provisions in public utilities. Another good thing is this non-profit trade association called NMEDA which promotes safe driving and equipment for disabled people and educates consumers on buying products from a NMEDA qualified dealer. NMEDA dealers or members are the ones who sell handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people especially considering the custom needs for each individual. An NMEDA dealer is there to help you as well, if you need additional training or product refinements. There is a personalized "in-person" evaluation so you can be sure that you'll get the suitable driving solution with reference to your lifestyle needs.

And have you heard of the Quality Assurance Program (QAP)? It is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry which is based on the principle that in order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality. So you are assured of it at all times.

I can't imagine how much of an ease this gives the elderly and the disabled, knowing that they are safe and protected, and independent as well.

If you know of anyone who can benefit from this information, please feel free to share it. You may also go to nmeda.org and on the homepage, hit the dealers locator and type in your ZIP code and see if there is a qualified dealer near you. If you do find one, let me know.
